このサイトについて ― 形成外科・顎顔面外科の正確な情報をわかりやすく

 はじめまして。

このたび、「Dr. Morotomi｜形成外科・顎顔面外科」という個人サイトを開設しました。

私はこれまで、形成外科を基盤として、顎変形症、顔面骨骨折、頭蓋顎顔面領域の再建、顔面輪郭形成など、主として「顔のかたち」に関わる診療・手術に携わってきました。また、大学病院での診療・教育・研究に加え、美容外科診療にも携わっています。

形成外科や顎顔面外科が扱う領域は非常に広く、同じ「顔の手術」であっても、機能の回復を目的とする治療、形態の改善を目的とする治療、あるいはその両方を考慮しなければならない治療があります。

さらに近年では、CTによる三次元画像、手術シミュレーション、3D技術などの進歩により、顔面骨格の手術を取り巻く環境も大きく変化しています。一方、インターネットやSNSでは医療に関する膨大な情報が発信されており、専門的にみると、必ずしも正確とはいえない情報や、十分な説明なしに単純化されている情報を目にすることも少なくありません。

このサイトでは、形成外科医・顎顔面外科医としての臨床経験と医学的知見をもとに、形成外科、顎顔面外科、美容外科に関する情報を、できるだけ正確に、そして専門外の方にも理解しやすい形で発信していきたいと考えています。

取り上げるテーマとしては、顎変形症手術、顔面骨折、頭蓋顎顔面再建、顔面輪郭形成などの顎顔面外科領域を中心に、形成外科・美容外科の手術、顔の形態や加齢変化、3Dシミュレーションなど、日常の診療や研究の中で考えていることについても紹介していく予定です。

なお、本サイトは私個人が運営するものであり、所属する大学・医療機関・学会等を代表するものではありません。また、掲載内容は一般的な医学情報の提供を目的とするもので、個々の患者さんに対する診断や治療方針を示すものではありません。

専門的な内容についても、できるだけ「なぜそう考えるのか」が伝わるように書いていきたいと思います。

今後、本当に少しずつとなりますが、記事を追加していきます。

Welcome to this website.

I have recently launched “Dr.Morotomi｜Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery,” a personal website devoted to topics related to plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, and facial morphology.

Throughout my career, I have been involved primarily in the clinical care and surgical treatment of conditions related to the form and structure of the face. My clinical background is in plastic surgery, with experience in the management of dentofacial deformities, facial fractures, craniofacial reconstruction, and facial contouring. In addition to clinical practice, education, and research at a university hospital, I have also been involved in cosmetic surgery.

The fields of plastic surgery and maxillofacial surgery encompass a remarkably broad range of conditions and treatments. Even when procedures are broadly described as “facial surgery,” their objectives may differ. Some treatments are intended primarily to restore function, others to improve appearance, and some must address both functional and morphological considerations.

In recent years, advances in three-dimensional CT imaging, virtual surgical planning, and other 3D technologies have substantially changed the environment in which facial skeletal surgery is planned and performed. At the same time, an enormous amount of medical information is now disseminated through the internet and social media. From a professional perspdective, however, some of this information is not entirely accurate, while other information may be oversimplified without sufficient explanation of the underlying medical considerations.

Through this website, I hope to provide information on plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, and cosmetic surgery based on my clinical experience and medical knowledge as a plastic and maxillofacial surgeon. I will endeavor to present this information as accurately as possible while making it understandable to readers without specialist training.

The topics covered will focus primarily on maxillofacial surgery, including orthognathic surgery, facial fractures, craniofacial reconstruction, and facial contouring. I also plan to discuss procedures in plastic and cosmetic surgery, facial morphology and age-related changes, 3D surgical simulation, and other issues that arise in daily clinical practice and research.

This is a personal website and does not represent any university, medical institution, or professional society with which I may be affiliated. The information presented here is intended for general educational purposes only. It is not intended to provide a diagnosis or treatment plan for any individual patient.

Even when discussing specialized topics, I will try to explain not only the conclusions but also the reasoning behind them whenever possible.

I will continue to add new articles to the website, although gradually and one at a time.
